10 Super Weird SPA Treatments We’d Certainly Think Twice Before Trying
Snail Facial
It’s already clear that slimy things attract solid amounts of money from people who want their skin to look good. Putting an African snail to glide over your face is a form of treatment that began in Japan. People claimed that it was successful and soon after that snail facials started to spread across the world (slowly, we suppose). Supposedly African snails bring very relaxing feeling as they crawl on your skin. It’s hard to imagine.
Snails create slime in their trail. That trail fluid is said to have anti-aging effects. Because of the bunch of nutrients in the slimy trail, these snails are truly special and receive better treatment than most humans. The snails are fed an organic diet and are allowed to rejuvenate for almost a week before they get back to work on people’s faces. Quite a schedule!
Bird Poop Facial
Yes, we are used to think about bird poop as something that piles up on cars and causes much anger and annoyance as the car owner has to clean it. Ironically, some people are now praising bird poop instead of hating it. They pay money for the poop to be put on their face. A salon in New York City is offering bird poop facials for a low (yes, low) price of $180. Unlike leeches, however, this price seems a bit high since bird poop is as easy to find as finding things get.
This is not just any old bird poop, though. The special one comes from nightingales that are treated just as well as the snails that we mentioned before. The birds are eschewed into pooping in the place. The poop is then dried down and made into powder. It is later being mixed with rice and water to create a liquid that can be applied to the face. Specialists also sanitize the bird poop. Not so gross anymore? We’re not sure.
