Apparently, when the Harry Potter series was first introduced to the US, the American publishing company Scholastic suggested to make some changes to make the books more "American". This was based around minor adjustments between American and British English (truck vs lorry, dustbin vs trashcan, etc). The most prominent change was in the book title of the first instatement. English version of the first book is called "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone". The same book for American market became "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone". The word philosopher was though to be dull and unengaging for the kids and therefore change into a more child friendly sorcerer. Rowling herself admits regretting the change.

There is an inspirational story going around the internet about how Evanna Lynch got her role as Luna Lovegood. Supposedly, she wrote a moving letter to Rowling explain all about her difficulties of dealing with anorexia. Internet says that afterwards book author invited Evanna to audition but only if she overcame her disease, which she did. This is not entirely true. In fact, Lynch admits that letters from Rowling really helped with her recovery but that's it. Evanna participated in an open audition for Luna's part without Rowling knowing about it.
